Life Skills

A few months ago I purchased The Best of Sewing Machine Fun for Kids. I knew my girls would love it, but I was hesitant if the boys would even tolerate it. Surprisingly, everyone has liked it. Whenever we get done with school a little early we break out the book and do some of the pages. It goes over the basic of sewing, then has them sew (with no thread) on paper and helps teach them to stay on the lines. Even the youngest ones were able to do it! Eventually they will learn to sew some little crafts.

Now, to be honest I haven't dared to let them touch my sewing machine. I fortunately have one from the beginning of time that doesn't work that great. But for 5 little kids practicing with paper, it does the trick.
